Medical maven: bridging the gap

About Us

Medical Maven provides a comprehensive, patient-focused medical monitoring and reporting service whereby we strive to ensure that your loved one receives the highest quality care. Our step-by-step process ensures we cover all bases with the patient and their family and can truly ensure they are receiving the best care.

Step 1

Our process begins with an interview with the patient’s family, where we establish goals and address concerns regarding the care currently being received by the patient.

Step 2

This interview is followed by a separate interview with the patient, which can also be attended by family members, where we introduce ourselves to the patient and discuss the patient’s goals and concerns regarding care.

Step 3

After these interviews, we review the patient’s care plan and address any obvious issues which require revision or modification.

Step 4

Once the care plan is reviewed and approved by the family and patient, we begin periodic monitoring of the patient’s care.

This includes site visits, review of medications and when they are administered, observation of therapy and whether it meets the standards set forth in the care plan, meal monitoring to ensure patients with dietary restrictions are receiving the appropriate meals, and an overall review of the responsiveness and attentiveness of facility staff. (For example, we will push a patient’s call button and gauge how long it takes staff to respond.)

This process also involves frequent conversations with the patient. All patients will be provided with a notepad and encouraged to note any issues with their care to discuss with their Medical Maven. Their Maven will also ask them specific questions in an effort to determine whether the quality of their care if consistent between site visits. Ultimately, our site visits are designed to observe but are also designed to empower patients and to give them a voice in their own lives.

Care Reports

Based upon our observations of the facility and care, as well as conversations with the patient, Medical Maven will generate care reports to be provided to the family, with a periodic assessment of the quality of care being received.

Using these reports and follow-up conversations with the family and patient, we will address concerns directly with the facility and its staff and work to ensure that any issues with care are promptly remedied and that the issues do not arise again in the future. We work to ensure this by visiting and reporting at regular intervals, based upon the needs and desires of the family and patient.

This could be as often as multiple visits per week to once a month, with the needed frequency being based upon the needs of the patient. All of this will be discussed during the initial interviews.

Ultimately, Medical Maven works to bridge the divide between a patient’s family and the care the patient receives, empowering the patient and providing the family peace of mind that the patient is receiving the highest caliber care, even when they’re at a distance. Out of sight does not mean out of mind, and Medical Maven will work to ensure that your loved ones are never forgotten.

About Me

I’m Olivia Vogler, and I began my career working in a variety of roles in and around long term care facilities and hospitals.

I know first-hand that these facilities are often staffed by individuals who are truly caring and who will go above and beyond for their patients, however, there are often times where care falls below an appropriate standard even with the best of intentions. Understaffing, overworking, and miscommunications lead to suffering on the part of your loved ones.

It broke my heart to see patient care be mismanaged or issues fall through the cracks.

As a result, I’ve left those facilities and focused on taking action to meaningfully improve the quality of care received by patients, which prompted me to found Medical Maven.

Through my company, I am able to deliver meaningful and measurable improvements to a patient’s care and their quality of life. For me, patients and families are always first, and I hope to have the opportunity to meet you and held ensure that your loved ones receive the care, dignity, and respect that they deserve.
